As part of our re-development we have been busy digitising information about the collections in order to improve your access to the museum objects held in trust by Dundee City Council.

Work is being undertaken to produce a web page where you can search the museum collections. There will be different levels on which to investigate the objects, from thematic buttons to use if you are just browsing to specialist searches if you know what you want to see.

The first stage in digitising the collection is nearing completion with just 4000 records of our total of 100,000 to be put into our database. The second phase is about to start in April when all the records will be reviewed for publication on the web. This is a big task, but we hope to be able to bring sections of the collection into public view a few at a time.
