Blue shabti figure, Overseer of the Treasury
Shabti figure, New Kingdom
Museum number 1950-165-42
Shabtis are small figures, representing servants, that carried out manual tasks on behalf of the spirit in the afterlife. When first introduced as burial goods only one shabti figure was placed in the tomb but later there was one for every day of the year. This shabti figure depicts Thayhermer, the Overseer of the Treasury, during the 19th Dynasty of the New Kingdom of Ancient Egypt.
