Brown Braithwaites' paper bag
Braithwaites' paper bag
Purchase from J. Allan Braithwaite Ltd.
Museum number 2007-31
Braithwaite's traded from a shop at the Town House in the High Street, known as "The Pillars", before moving to Castle Street. The building's image and name became a trademark for the business.
Increasing demand led to the founding of tea and coffee merchants in the 1860s.
Braithwaite's in Castle Street is still a traditional tea and coffee supplier.
