Pagoda, 18th century
Japan
Bone

Donated by DW Crighton, 1967
Museum number 1987-230

The distinctive shape of this pagoda, created as an early tourist piece, is typical of Japanese Buddhist temple complexes. Every city has at least one Buddhist temple and in large cultural centres like Kyoto there are thousands.
