Dip pen with nib

Bequeathed by Miss E. Smith
Museum number 1977-520-1

Great emphasis was placed on beautiful handwriting done with ink and dip-pen. Children practiced writing in copy-books. The top line would be printed, and the child had to painstakingly copy it over and over in their best handwriting, paying attention to their posture and holding the pen correctly.
