This sculptural ceramic was hand-built using a mixture of clays – earthenware, stoneware and porcelain – and fired to a white heat, causing the red earthenware to crack and scorch. An unconventional glaze, the impression of water was created by pouring smashed whisky bottles into the piece which melted into a shimmering pool during the firing process. It was inspired by Icelandic geysers seen from above reflecting the blue sky. The outer surface is reminiscent of weathered stone and the inside is crystalline.
