One of 6 fragmentary, iron joints for sections of wooden water-pipe. The principal buildings of the fort were supplied with water carried in buried wooden pipes joined by iron collars. The main water supply entered the fortress under pressure at the south gate, fed by some of the many springs on higher ground south of the fort.
