This is one of two sculptures by Brodie in the Orchar Collection. Brodie was one of the leading Scottish sculptors, famous today for his sculpture of Greyfriars Bobby in Edinburgh.
This work shows Brodie's knowledge of classical sculpture, which he studied from casts during his training at the Trustees' Academy, Edinburgh
