Model Fossil of the extinct myriapod Kampecaris forfarensis that lived during the Devonian period (about 410 million year ago). Kampecaris is one of the first land animals and it is thought it may be to be an ancestor of modern day millipedes. Animals first started colonising land during the Silurian period (443-410 million years ago). Kampecaris forfarensis was named after Forfar, the place where it was discovered.
