South East Asia, Burma, Ponnyo Nagas
Brass

Donated by WB Davidson, 1947
Museum number 1947-615-7

Both men and women wore jewellery of various shapes and materials. Hollow brass torques like these, with gongs and heads, were worn by warriors. The use of the human skull is purely decorative and does not allude to heads taken in war.
