Samian ware

Field collection: Dundee Law
Collected by University of Glasgow Department of Archaeology

Donated by Dundee District Parks Department
Museum number 1995-177-3

It has been suggested that Dundee Law was once a Roman observation post. However, the pottery found there, like this piece of decorated Samian ware, is too fine to have been used by soldiers in the field. It is probably linked to native activity. The pieces are from an inkwell and a small bowl.
