'Pupils really enjoyed visit. Great mix of research, discussion and practical work'
'Children were engaged throughout and the information was relevant to the age and stage.'
'This visit will inform the rest of our topic on the Victorians and in particular setting up our own museum in the classroom.'
'The visit was hugely beneficial. We have just started our Egyptian topic, so the visit has helped by increasing their knowledge and enthusiasm.'
'Our tour guide was fantastic in answering the children's questions about art and the gallery. We had a great day and it enhanced the learning that has taken place in the classroom.'
A range of opportunities are available for School groups at the McManus. We are happy to discuss the needs and interests of particular groups and encourage Teachers and Support staff to contact us in advance of visit. We advise Schools to book as far in advance as possible to ensure the preferred slot is available.
To provisionally book a tour or workshop please fill in the provisional booking form and email it to email@example.com or call the Creative Learning Team on 01382 307216. Confirmation or alternative dates will then be emailed to you.
A range of resources are available for Teachers and Group Leaders to download in advance of a visit or to support classroom learning. Our 'Educators Packs' explore objects and themes currently on display in our galleries. Most of our 'Activity Sheets' are designed to be undertaken in the galleries but some can also be used back in the classroom following a visit.
To ensure that The McManus continues to develop as an inclusive centre of learning, we work with partners to develop initiatives that meet the needs of the communities of Dundee.
We welcome enquiries from Schools who would like to discuss a development project.
Secondary Schools development
'Our City' explores the art, heritage, environment and architecture of Dundee as seen through the eyes of the young people who live here. Tailored to different participant groups, 'Our City' works with the interests and experiences of young people to encourage creativity and raise awareness of issues of citizenship, community and diversity.
If you would like to discuss the potential development of an 'Our City' project with us please contact Keri McGowan on 01382 307216.
