Patricia Macdonald is best known for her sensitive, thought-provoking and often highly symbolic landscapes viewed from the air. She is interested in the part man has to play in shaping and altering the landscape, she explains:

"I am interested in the whole spectrum of human relationships with the land. From the aerial viewpoint all parts of the environment, including ourselves and the results of our activities, can be clearly seen to be interconnected. This obvious ecological fact is often stated, but it becomes an experienced and keenly-felt reality from the air."
