Museum number 1976-1008

Made of linen covered with gesso and constructed to fit over the whole of the head and neck, back and front. Decorated with red,green and gold. The face is gilt. The wig has a vertical striped effect, representing locks, but is plain dark green at the back. It is crowned with a band tied at the back and decorated at the front with six 'studs' and an eye of horus motif. A decorative border runs round the sides and lower edge of the wig. Two crouching women are portrayed on the side of the head near the top and a hawk on top of the head. Possibly given by Sir James Caird
