Carved head, early 20th century
South Asia, Andaman Islands?
Coconut

Donated by W Bell, 1914
Museum number 1914-167-1

Coconut shells have been turned into all sorts of practical things - containers, spoons and even buttons. This early carved head is a good example of an early tourist item carved in a quasi-folk art style.
