City Garden, 1979

Presented 1979 by the Artist and his family in memory of his wife, Janet Patrick
Museum number 15-1983

Starkly different from the original wartime picture of the garden, this shows the result of all the labour and love which had gone into landscaping the garden and planting it with exotic trees and shrubs.

The magnificent eucalyptus was Patrick's pride and joy. It grew from a two-inch sprig in a pot which he planted in 1947. Sadly it was blown down in a winter gale in 1983 after reaching a height of over sixty feet.
