Communion Token
Museum number: 1972-16-2

Until the beginning of the1900s, Church of Scotland members needed a communion token to attend the sacrament of The Lord's Supper.

The minister would examine his congregation, and only those deemed worthy would be issued with one. Every church had its own distinctive design of token.
