This Continuous Certificate of Discharge charts the nautical career of John Callendar Wales, who served as an Assistant Cook and Cook on board the Dundee whaling ship 'Diana' between 1901 and 1905. The booklet opens with a brief description of Mr Wales as five foot three with a fair complexion, grey eyes and fair hair. The next double page has an assortment of stamps charting the dates of his voyages on 'Diana' with the conduct stamp of 'Very Good' beside them. The third page, which is the last to be filled in, has the dates of his discharge and the signature of William Adams, the master of 'Diana.'
