Underneath this photograph are the words: 'Dead Whale lying alongside ready for flencing' while the picture shows three men standing on a dead whale beside a whaling ship. The men are all holding long tools, presumably flensing spades while others look on from the ship. There is ice in the foreground and a whaleboat hanging from derricks in the left centre.
