This black and white drawing shows a Dundee whaling ship sailing out to sea. The ship has three masts but all her sails are furled, and there is no smoke visible from her funnel. There are some people on deck. The caption beneath reads; 'The Scotia, under the command of captain Thos. Robertson, left Dundee on Wednesday for the Greenland whale fishing. the vessel left with the morning tide, and there was a good crowd assembled to see her off despite the heavy rain.'
