Drawing of whaling ships in an ice pack
Lantern slide made of glass with metal frame

Donated by Mr Robert Ferguson in 1975
Museum number 1975-2-4-65

This lantern slide shows a drawing of sail-powered whaling vessels in an ice pack. There are three ships in the picture, all under sail, with broken ice in the foreground. The nearest ship is tilted at an angle to the left and has a company flag of a St George's flag with a central crescent at her foremast. The second ship is astern of her and to the viewer's left and the third further astern with a striped flag showing.
