Museum number 1986-189-3

Dundee Football Club strip as worn in 1986. The team are proudly nicknamed the "Dark Blues" from the club colours.
Two local football teams, Our Boys and East End, joined together in 1893 to form Dundee Football Club. The clubs' home grounds were at West Craigie Park and Carolina Port before Dens Park opened in 1899.

Football is a major part of the City’s sporting life. Amateur football is popular, and Dundee's two professional teams, Dundee Football Club and Dundee United Football Club, have enjoyed much success. Their two grounds are separated by just one street, making them closer neighbours than any other teams in the United Kingdom.
