'Eclipse' under sail in pack ice
Lantern slide of glass with metal frame

Donated by Mr Robert Ferguson, 1975
Museum number 1975-2-4-14

This lantern slide shows the Dundee whaling ship 'Eclipse' under full sail in pack ice. The photograph was taken from the starboard bow, so the forepart and starboard is visible to the viewer. There are four whaleboats visible in the midships and aft section of the vessel and it appears that the sails on her mizzen are furled.
