The Erik at the Middle Ice; 1876
Original photograph taken by T. F. Miller [1850-1927]
Photograph made of paper, mounted on card.

Underneath this sepia print is the caption 'The "Erik" at the Middle Ice.' The picture shows the whaling ship 'Erik' moored to the iced sea. Her topsails and spanker are set, but all other sails are furled. There is a man on the ice to her right. He is holding a long pole. Astern of 'Erik' there is a patch of clear sea.
