This sepia print of the Exeter Sound settlement shows four plank-built houses in an uneven line, set against a snowy background. In the foreground, a small burn runs from middle right to bottom centre, with a collapsed plany bridge in the centre right. The house on the extreme left has the name 'Erik' painted on the front, with a date that might be 1875. Behind the huts, a low hill rises to the right.
