John Maclauchlan Milne
Born Edinburgh, 1885-1957

A Fife Landscape, 1920

Oil on canvas
Purchased with Morris Trust Funds, 1924
Museum Number 16-1924

Milne spent much time in France, often painting with Peploe and Cadell, and is sometimes called the Dundee Colourist. He shared the Scottish Colourists' love of Cezanne.

Contrast this optimistic work with Cameron's war-ravaged Bailleul, of around the same date. Both share the same low horizon.
