Shabtis are small figures, representing servants, that carried out manual tasks on behalf of the spirit in the afterlife. When first introduced as burial goods only one shabti figure was placed in the tomb but later there was one for every day of the year. This shabti figure is inscribed for the royal scribe Ahmose, born of Hetep-Bastet. It is thought to be from the 30th Dynasty of the Late Period of Ancient Egypt.
