Group of seamen flensing a whale
Photograph made of paper.

Donated by Mr James Matheson in 1968
Museum number 1968-40-8

This photograph shows a group of six men stripping the blubber from a whale. The whale's tail takes up nearly all the right hand side of the picture, with the men in the background, busy with their long handled flensing tools. They are working from small boats hard alongside the hull of a whaling ship.
