Headdress, pre 1900
Outer Mongolia, Khalkha Mongol
Hair decorated with turquoise, pearls and semi precious stones in gold plated white metal filigree work.

Loaned by L J Miller, 1931
Museum number 1931-1LB

This headdress would have been commissioned from a silversmith, when a Khalkha girl was to be married. It was presented to her on her wedding day and she wore it throughout her married life.
