This is one of Boudin's many views of the port of Le Havre. Trained in Paris, he specialised in marine subjects. His fresh and luminous paintings with freely applied brushwork, influenced the Impressionists, especially the young Claude Monet. Boudin participated in their first Paris show of 1874.
