Whilst drawing studies of goats at Camperdown Park in Dundee, Crawford was forced to take shelter from a rain shower. That's when he noticed this little goat come out and "pose on his doorstep". These works had a lasting effect on the style of his work, resulting in a much greater concentration of detail and accuracy of texture
