Trained as an illustrator, Flint started painting oils and watercolours in his forties. His watercolours were strongly influenced by the 'wet' technique of Arthur Melville. An indication of this is seen in his oils, in his fluid painterly use of oil. He is most famous for scenes like this, 'exotic' women in highly coloured clothing.
