Newspaper cutting: photograph of 'Aurora'
Cutting made of paper

Museum number 1969-117-42

This black and white photograph was cut from a newspaper. The photograph shows the Dundee whaling ship 'Aurora' sitting in a harbour. The ship has her sails furled, but the crow's nest is visible at the top of her main mast. 'Aurora' has the black painted hull typical of British ships of the 19th century, and her funnel shows her to be auxiliary powered, that is, she had an engine as well as sails.
