Presented by anonymous donors, 1926
Museum number 13-1926

WB Lamond became an artist after many years working for the Caledonian railway. Like Douglas, he was largely self taught. He developed a talent for portraiture but his instincts were for painting out-of-doors and he concentrated on landscapes and seascapes. His paintings show his love of rich colour though unlike his peers his work looks back to Victorian models. This work shows the strong influence of William McTaggart.
