The Certificate of Character, on the left, gives Mr Myers a 'V.G.' character for both ability and conduct. It was signed by Captain George Deuchars on the 23 October 1863. The Certificate of Discharge on the right said that Mr Myers was born in Heligoland in 1821 [other sources say 1818] and that he had served as a cook on the Dundee registered, 434 tons vessel 'Narwhal.' it also said that 'Narwhal' had the official number 22686 and had been concerned with the Seal and Whale Fishing. There is a space at the back for Mr Myers to sign his name.
