This Certificate of Discharge and Character was issued to Mr Charles Myers in November 1857. The Certificate of Character on the left gives Mr Myers 'V Good' for both ability and conduct and is signed by the master, Alexander Deuchars. The Certificate of Discharge on the right states that Mr Myers served as a Boatsteerer on the Dundee registered ship 'Jumna' and sailed to the Davis Strait. This Certificate also said that 'Jumna' had a registered tonnage of 361 and an official number of 25674, while Mr Meyers was born in Heligoland. On the reverse of the Certificate there is a space for Mr Meyers to sign his name.
