One of a series of Certificates of Discharge for Mr Charles Myers, 1859

This Certificate of Character and Discharge was issued to Mr Charles Myers in December 1859. On the left side is the Certificate of Character, which says that Mr Myers has a 'VG' character for ability and conduct. It is signed by Mr Webster, the 'Master of the Ship.' On the right side is the Certificate of Discharge which says that Mr Myers served as an 'AB' - an Able Bodied seaman - on board the 250 ton Dundee registered ship 'Gannet.' On this vessel Mr Mayers sailed to the Baltic on a voyage that began on the 8th October 1859 and finished on the 28th December 1859. The Certificate of Discharge also said that Mr Mayers was born in Heligoland.
