One of a series of Certificates of Discharge for Mr Charles Myers, 1870

This Certificate of Discharge was issued to Mr Charles Myers in November 1870. It says that Mr Myers was 48 years old and was born in Heligoland. It also says he had been employed as a harpooner on the Dundee registered vessel 'Intrepid' between the 7th May 1870 and the 1st of November 1870. The Certificate stated that 'Intrepid' was a 326 ton vessel of 35 horsepower, had the official number 18504 and had been engaged at 'Whale Fishing,' while Captain Souter's signature is at the bottom. On the reverse of the Certificate it states that Mr Myers had a character of 'very good' for both ability and conduct.'
