This combined Certificate of Discharge and Certificate of Character was issed to Mr Charles Myers on the 4th November 1858. The Certificate of Discharge states that Mr Myers was born in Heligoland in 1820 [other sources state 1818] and he had been employed as a boatsteerer on the Dundee registered ship 'Alexander' from the 15th March 1858 until the 29th October 1858. The Certificate also states that 'Alexander' had a tonnage of 324, and had the official number of 7248. The ship's master, John Nicoll, has signed the Certificate of Character, which gives Mr Myers a 'VG' character for both ability and conduct. Mr Charles Myers has signed the reverse of both Certificates.
