This combined Certificate of Character and Discharge was issued to Mr Charles Myers on the 23rd August 1856. The Certificate of Character was signed by the ship master, David Dick, and gives Mr Myers a character of 'VG' for both ability and conduct. On the right is the Certificate of Discharge, which states that Mr Myers had served as 2nd Mate on the Dundee registered ship 'Robin Gray' from the 16th May 1856 to the 23rd August 1856. This Certificate also stated that Mr Myers was born in Heligoland in 1818, and that 'Robin Gray' was a 291 ton ship that had been on a 'foreign' voyage.
