Issued by the Board of Trade

Donated by Mrs Jean Palmer in 2001
Museum number 2001-68-1

This Certificate of Discharge was issued by the Board of Trade, whose logo appears in the top left hand side. On it it states that 'Henry Navil' was aged 23 and had been born in Dundee. It also says he had been employed as an 'A.B' on a voyage in the Liverpool registered ship 'South Carolina' to Calcutta. The voyage had started and ended in Dundee and lasted from the 21st January 1875 to the 17th February 1876. The master, 'P. Hansen' signed at the bottom of the page and on the reverse he gave Mr Navil a character of 'VG' for both ability and conduct.
