It also states he had been engaged as a 'Boatsteerer and Skeaman' on the 326 ton Dundee registered vessel 'Intrepid', official number 18504 on a voyage to the Greenland Seal Fishing. Mr Navill had been engaged between the 6th March 1882 and the 29th August 1882. The Master, Robert Davidson, had signed the bottom of the certificate and on the reverse had given Mr Navill a very good character for both ability and conduct.
