This document has 'Certificate of Discharge' across the top, with the logo of the 'Com. of Council For Trade' in the top left corner. It states that 'Henry Naval' was aged 30 and was born in Dundee. It also states he had been engaged as an 'AB' on the 601 ton Dundee registered vessel 'Amethyst', official number 1869. Mr Navill had been engaged between the 31st December 1883 and the 11th January 1884. The Master, David Gow, had signed the bottom of the certificate and on the reverse had given Mr Navill a very good character for both ability and conduct.
