This document has 'Certificate of Discharge' across the top, with the logo of the 'Com. of Council For Trade' on the left. It states that 'Henry Navill' was aged 38 and was born in Dundee. It also states he had been engaged as a harpooner on the 215 ton Dundee registered vessel 'Polar Star', official number 19568 on a voyage to Greenland. Mr Navill had been engaged between the 4th March 1890 and the 27th August 1890. The Master, Robert Davidson, has signed the bottom of the certificate and on the reverse has given Mr Navill a character of 'Very Good' for both ability and conduct.
