This document has 'Certificate of Discharge' across the top, with the logo of the 'Com. of Council For Trade' in the top left corner. It states that 'Henry Navill' was aged 30 and had been born in Dundee. It also states he had been engaged as a 'Bosun and BS' on the 465 ton Dundee registered vessel 'Esquimaux', official number 52562 on a voyage to the Davis Straits Whaling. Mr Navill had been engaged between the 25th March 1895 and the 19th November 1895. The Master, W. Adams has signed the bottom of the certificate and has given Mr Navill a character of 'Very Good' for both ability and conduct.
