One of ten Certificates of Discharge for David Petrie, 1872

This Certificate of Discharge was issued to Mr David Petrie, a 29 year old, Dundee born cooper, on the 29th April 1872. The Certificate shows that Mr Petrie had served on the ship 'Victor' from the 21st February 1872 to the 29th April 1872, on a seal fishing voyage. According to the Certificate, 'Victor' was a 278 ton, Dundee registered vessel with 36 horsepower engines and the official number of 19504. The master had signed the bottom of the Certificate, while on the reverse Mr Petrie is given a character of 'Very Good' for both ability and conduct.
