One of ten Certificates of Discharge for David Pirie, 1874

This Certificate of Discharge was issued to Mr David Petrie on the 20th April 1874. It showed that Mr Petrie was 30 years old, had been born in Dundee and from the 27th February 1874 until the 20th April 1874 had been employed as a cooper in the Dundee registered vessel 'Intrepid.' It also said that 'Intrepid' was a 327 ton ship with a 50 horsepower engine and had the official number of 18504. Captain David Souter had signed the bottom of the Certificate and on the reverse he had given Mr Petrie the character of 'Very Good' for both ability and conduct.
