One of two Certificates of Discharge for Alexander Bruce. On 'Chieftain' 05/03/90 - 29/9/90

This Certificate of Discharge was issued to Mr Alexander Bruce on the 30th September 1890. It states that 28 year old, Aberdeen born Mr Bruce served as a Boatsteerer on the Dundee registered ship 'Chieftain', official number 62101 between the 5th March 1890 and the 29th September 1890. The Certificate also says that 'Chieftain' was a vessel of 157 tons and had been operating in the Davis Straits. The ship's master, D. Kilgour signed the bottom of the Certificate, which gives Mr Bruce a character of 'V.G.' for both ability and conduct.
