Pair of silver shoe buckles

Made by William Scott, Dundee, c.1780

William Scott was Dundee's outstanding silversmith at the end of the 1700s. Shoe buckles from this period are rare and these are the first ones by Scott to enter Dundee's collection.

The buckles are in the shape of curved rectangles in open work form.
