This photograph shows two Inuit women sitting side by side on a ledge on the deck of a whaling vessel They are wearing European style clothing with patterned pullovers and the lady closest to the camera has a cap on her head. There is a spar running fore-and-aft above their heads with a sail furled over it, so the vessel may be a barque rather than a ship.
